YouTube Commits to Remunerating Authentic Content

As of July 15, 2025, YouTube has implemented new guidelines aimed at promoting authenticity and originality on its platform. The updates focus on restricting monetization for content deemed inauthentic, such as AI-generated videos, copy-paste content, low-effort formats, and repetitive uploads.

The new policy is a "minor update" in the fight against low-quality AI videos, according to Renee Ritchie, head of editorial and copyright affairs at YouTube. The changes are designed to encourage creators to produce high-quality, original, and engaging content that reflects their unique voices and perspectives.

Content creators solely focused on quick money should be kept off the platform, YouTube aims to retain advertising partners with this measure. Channels that upload near-duplicate videos or use automation to produce similar content in bulk will risk being suspended or removed from the YouTube Partner Program.

Videos created using AI tools will no longer be eligible for monetization, as they lack the authenticity and originality YouTube aims to promote. Similarly, videos that are copied from other creators or previously uploaded content with minimal changes will be disqualified from monetization.

Low-effort formats, such as reaction videos to other videos, are also affected by the changes. Mass-produced and repetitious content, such as videos generated using templates or those lacking entertainment value or useful information, will also face restrictions.

In a move to keep users informed, YouTube has launched a weekly newsletter titled "95.5". This free newsletter is delivered directly to the subscriber's inbox every week and provides information that users may find important. The newsletter contains highlights, including top concerts, exclusive competitions, and insights into Larissa Lannert's live events.

Subscribing to the newsletter can be done via a provided link. The newsletter is sent via website-Newsletter, ensuring a seamless and user-friendly experience.

These updates mark a significant shift in YouTube's approach to content creation, encouraging creators to produce creative and engaging content that resonates with their audience.

Technology is now playing a crucial role in YouTube's fight against low-quality content, with updates targeting AI-generated videos and automation. The platform aims to promote authenticity and originality, making monetization less accessible for content creators who rely on quick money and low-effort formats.
