Xbox's upcoming console now appearing on Amazon catalog - despite not having been released yet
Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X Handhelds Set for Release on October 16, 2025
Microsoft and Asus are set to launch their new gaming handhelds, the Xbox Ally and the Xbox Ally X, on October 16, 2025. Pre-orders for these devices are expected to open on August 20, 2025, according to information revealed during the Gamescom 2025 Xbox broadcast.
The Xbox Ally handheld is expected to be one of the major announcements at Gamescom this week. An accidental listing on Amazon last week revealed some key details about the handheld. According to the listing, the handheld will feature a 7-inch 1080p IPS display capable of up to 120Hz refresh rates and Freesync Premium support. It also has a dedicated Xbox home button and launches into the Xbox Full Screen Experience when switched on. The handheld is a PC device running a customized version of Windows with an Xbox overlay.
The flagship ROG Xbox Ally X handheld is grey/black, runs on the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, has 24GB of RAM, and 1TB of on-board SSD storage. The cheaper ROG Xbox Ally handheld comes in white and runs on the AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of SSD storage.
Regarding prices, official pricing has not been confirmed by Microsoft yet. However, reliable leaks and retail sources suggest approximate prices for the handhelds. The ROG Xbox Ally is expected to cost around $549.99 (or about €599 in Europe), while the ROG Xbox Ally X is expected to cost around $899.99 (or about €899 in Europe). Microsoft and Asus have delayed official pricing announcements, but acknowledged these leaked figures align with expectations.
The brightness of the ROG Xbox Ally handhelds is claimed to be 500 nits. Official details about when the handhelds will be available to buy, both on pre-order and the final release date, will be announced during Gamescom.
Gamescom is a video games show taking place in Germany from Wednesday 20 August. During the show, key hardware details about the Xbox Ally X and Xbox Ally handhelds are expected to be announced.
Billbil-kun, a renowned games industry leaker, previously suggested a release date for the Xbox Ally handheld in October 2025. The shipping date for the handheld, as mentioned in the Amazon listing, is also expected to be in October 2025.
