Xbox Game Pass Revamps Subscription Model, Europe Faces Price Hikes and Access Changes
Microsoft has revealed a new subscription model for Xbox Game Pass, bringing changes to pricing and game availability. The new structure will impact users across Europe, with some experiencing increased costs and altered access to new news. The new model introduces unlimited cloud gaming across all tiers. However, users switching tiers in Europe will now adhere to the new pricing structure. Most users can expect a less comprehensive subscription, as new game releases will only be available in the Ultimate tier.
Existing customers in Germany and Austria are currently exempt from the new prices due to automatic renewals. However, the exemption ends upon subscription renewal or change. The new prices were announced last week, with the Ultimate tier increasing to 27 euros from 18 euros per month, and the entry-level tier, now called Essential, rising to 9 euros from 7 euros per month. Meanwhile, customers in the US and UK have already been switched to the new model.
The Ultimate tier will also include Ubisoft+ and Fortnite Crew subscriptions. Microsoft has assured customers of a 60-day notice period for future changes.
