World-leading Tuscan organization, Bama, pioneers eco-friendly advancements in the realm of plastic manufacturing
In a commendable effort to promote a recycling culture and reduce plastic waste, the British Aerosol Manufacturer's Association (BAMA) has taken significant strides. One of their key initiatives involves funding educational materials focused on recycling, particularly a series of children's books on aerosol recycling.
Notably, BAMA sponsored the second book in this series, penned by Hydrokem Aerosol's Andy Hickin. This initiative aims to instil a sense of responsibility towards recycling from an early age, encouraging sustainable behaviour and better waste management practices.
The Bama group, a pioneer in producing plastic items for home, garden, and domestic animals, uses 100% recyclable plastic produced using certified and non-toxic resins. This commitment to sustainability is evident in their Tuscan plant, which boasts a 25,000 m² photovoltaic system, covering about 70% of its consumption.
However, the Bama group's efforts extend beyond just recycling. They also promote differentiated collection for discarded products, a crucial step towards effective waste management.
It's important to note that the environmental impact of a plastic object doesn't end at its disposal. Its design, production, use, and disposal all contribute to its overall impact. Plastic, being little biodegradable, remains in circulation for thousands of years, contributing significantly to pollution and environmental degradation.
The European Environment Agency identifies unintelligent use, non-recyclable plastics, and lack of effective collection and recovery systems as main factors making plastic less sustainable. The Bama group, founded in 1980 in the province of Lucca, Italy, is gradually increasing the purchase of clean energy to cover its entire demand with renewable sources.
