Tesla Model 3 Named Safest Car in Europe for 2025

The Tesla Model 3 has once again proven its dominance in the automotive industry, being named the safest new car in Europe for 2025 by the Euro NCAP safety tests. The electric vehicle (EV) achieved an impressive total score of 359 out of 400, making it the highest-scoring car tested this year [1].

The Model 3 outperformed prestigious competitors such as the Mercedes E-Class (353 points) and other electric models like the Volkswagen ID.7, Zeekr X, Polestar 3, and NIO ET5. Out of 20 tested new cars, 14 achieved the top rating, but only the Tesla Model 3 set new standards in all categories [1].

In complex traffic scenarios like intersections or turning maneuvers, the Tesla Model 3 performed strongly compared to the VW ID.7. Euro NCAP praised the emergency braking system in the Tesla Model 3 for its exceptional performance in various test environments. The child seat recognition system in the Tesla Model 3 was also commended by Euro NCAP [1].

However, Euro NCAP criticized that the "Autopilot" system in the Tesla Model 3 could lead to misunderstandings and give customers false expectations. Despite this, the Model 3's built-in assist systems, including intelligent speed assist, an autonomous emergency braking system, a child seat recognition system, and a pedestrian-friendly hood, contributed significantly to its high score [1].

Volkswagen (VW) has revealed a plan regarding the performance of the VW ID.7 in the Euro NCAP safety test. Although the VW ID.7 received a five-star rating, it fell significantly short of Tesla's top values in the Euro NCAP safety test. VW states that they cannot assume the poor performance in the Euro NCAP safety test is just temporary for the VW ID.7 [1].

The Tesla Model 3's consistent top-tier performance in crash and safety evaluations since its initial tests in 2019 has been confirmed by Euro NCAP in 2025, with the Model 3 retaining its five-star safety rating [4][5]. The Model 3's superior overall safety performance, particularly in active safety technologies and occupant protection, makes it a benchmark in the current automotive safety landscape in Europe [1].

In the overall ranking of tested new cars, the Tesla Model 3 remains the top performer, with other vehicles failing to match its scores [1]. As such, the 2025 Tesla Model 3 stands out within Euro NCAP’s latest results as the highest scoring and safest tested vehicle so far this year in Europe.
