Visa Africa Fintech Accelerator Launches Fifth Cohort

The Visa Africa Fintech Accelerator Program is now accepting applications for its fifth cohort. This high-impact, three-month initiative is designed for seed to Series A African fintech startups with a minimum viable product (MVP) or a market-ready solution, demonstrating some market traction.

The program runs over 12 weeks in a hybrid format, starting with an onboarding week, followed by 10 virtual focus weeks of tailored mentorship and training. This is followed by an investor week and culminates in an in-person Demo Day, where startups pitch to investors including Visa, Plug and Play, and leading venture capitalists.

During the virtual focus weeks, startups will benefit from direct mentorship from experienced founders and industry professionals, Visa-specific training, access to Visa’s developer portal and technology tools, and insightful workshops on product design, marketing, finance, and sales.

In addition to these benefits, selected startups will also have access to investment opportunities at Demo Day and product perks and credits from over 100 technology vendors, valued at over US $200,000. Furthermore, they will have the opportunity to network and form partnerships with global and regional fintech players.

The application process consists of two rounds: an initial screening and virtual interviews for shortlisted applicants. Applications can be submitted before August 15, 2025. Startups should align with Visa’s financial themes such as payments, embedded finance, SME support, sustainable finance, and payment infrastructure.

Since its launch in June 2023, the Accelerator has supported numerous startups across Africa, contributing to Visa's broader goal of investing US $1 billion in Africa's digital transformation by 2027. Successful startups may be considered for funding by Visa or Plug and Play.

The Visa Africa Fintech Accelerator continues to play a key role in shaping Africa's fintech ecosystem, providing resources and connections for local and global scaling. Don't miss out on this opportunity - apply now!

More information about the program can be found on the Visa Africa Fintech Accelerator website.

Startups interested in the program should focus on Visa's financial themes, such as payments, embedded finance, SME support, sustainable finance, and payment infrastructure. By participating, startups will gain access to technology tools, mentorship, and investment opportunities in the field of business and finance, propelled by cutting-edge technology.
