Vietnam's Data Center Boom: FPT Launches Largest Facility, Warburg Pincus Proposes Expressway & Data Center
FPT Corporation has launched its FPT Fornix HCM02 Data Center, boasting the most racks in Vietnam. Meanwhile, Warburg Pincus has proposed a VND17.3 trillion ($677 million) expressway project and expressed interest in building a high-tech data center in the country.
Vietnam currently houses 41 commercial data centers with a total designed capacity of 221 MW. Warburg Pincus, which has invested over $2 billion in Vietnam since 2013, creating 40,000 jobs, plans to cooperate with DC Connects and Wide Creek AMC for a hyperscale data center. This move aligns with analysts' beliefs that Vietnam could become a global data center destination.
Jeffrey Perlman, CEO of Warburg Pincus, discussed these plans during a meeting with Vietnam's President Luong Cuong in New York. The President appreciated Warburg Pincus' long-term commitment to Vietnam's development. In addition to Warburg Pincus' plans, Viettel has also begun construction on the An Khanh Data Center in Hanoi with an investment of VND17.5 trillion ($664.9 million) and plans another state-of-the-art data center in HCMC with a capacity of up to 140 megawatts.
With the launch of FPT's Fornix HCM02 Data Center and proposals from Warburg Pincus and Viettel, Vietnam's data center landscape is expanding rapidly. These investments, totaling billions of dollars, signal Vietnam's growing appeal as a global data center hub.
