User can now customize their news sources in Google Search: Step-by-step guide
Google has rolled out a new feature called Preferred Sources, designed to give users more control over the news outlets they see most frequently in their search results. This tool is particularly useful for individuals who rely on specific sources for their information, especially during breaking news events.
How to Use the Preferred Sources Feature
To customise your preferred sources, follow these simple steps:
- Search for a news topic on Google that generates a Top Stories section.
- Look for a star icon or a similar icon to the right of the Top Stories header.
- Click or tap that icon.
- Search for and select your preferred news outlets to prioritise.
- Refresh the search results to see these sources appear more frequently, including in a dedicated From your sources section.
You can choose as many outlets as you wish and update your selections anytime. The feature is currently available in English in the United States and India, with plans to expand further in these markets. Despite selecting preferred sources, Google will still show news from other outlets, maintaining a balanced mix.
Trustworthy News at Your Fingertips
With the Preferred Sources feature, you can stay up-to-date with news from sites you trust or follow regularly, enhancing your personalised news experience on Google Search.
