Update for 2023.5: Silhouette Edition

In the ever-evolving world of post-production, Silhouette 2023.5 stands out as a significant leap forward, introducing a host of advanced improvements focused on machine learning and AI-assisted tools.

One of the key features is the integration of Generative AI, which automates workflow processes such as rotoscoping and content-aware editing, enhancing productivity and efficiency.

Another noteworthy addition is the UpRes ML Node, a machine learning-powered upscaling node that increases image resolution while preserving details and reducing artifacts. This tool is expected to revolutionise the way images are handled in post-production.

Silhouette 2023.5 also boasts Denoiser ML Refinements, improved AI-based denoising algorithms that retain fine details while minimising noise, thereby enhancing overall image quality in composites.

The tracking process has been streamlined with Tracking Enhancements, upgrading algorithms for more accurate and robust motion tracking. This improvement is set to improve roto and stabilization workflows significantly.

Regrain Auto Sample, another innovative feature, automatically samples grain from source footage and applies it seamlessly to composited elements, maintaining consistent texture and grain across shots.

For a detailed list of all improvements specific to Silhouette 2023.5, users are advised to consult official release notes or developer documentation, as public information is limited.

To download the update, users need the Boris FX Hub, which is also required for the installation. Silhouette 2023.5 is now available as a standalone application and plugin for Adobe/OFX hosts, including Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro, Foundry Nuke, Blackmagic Resolve and Fusion, and Autodesk Flame.

Current customers can benefit from Silhouette 2023.5 for free if they are on an active subscription or upgrade & support plan. The new templates and feature enhancements in Silhouette 2023.5 are designed to help users tackle keying, compositing, and grain management tasks more efficiently.

The Stability Node in Silhouette 2023.5 has been updated to the Stable Diffusion XL model, allowing for the generation of realistic faces, legible text within images, and better image composition. The UpRes ML Node accurately resizes images using machine learning trained on thousands of images, producing superior results while keeping vital details.

In Silhouette 2023.5, the Regrain Auto Sample feature automatically finds the best area to sample grain, and the Tracking Enhancements allow for the tracking of multiple layers and subtracted layers inside integrated Mocha and Planar Tracker. The UpRes ML Node also allows for simultaneous tracking of multiple layers and subtracted layers.
