Ather Energy to Introduce Cruise Control on 450X and 450 Apex Models
Ather Energy, an Indian electric scooter manufacturer, has announced plans to introduce cruise control on its popular 450 series models - the 450X and 450 Apex - through an over-the-air (OTA) update. The update, expected to be released around August 30, 2025, coincides with Ather's 2025 Community Day event.
The update is primarily intended for vehicles equipped with the Atherstack Pro software variant, which includes the 450X and 450 Apex models. The 450s model, part of the series, may not be included in the update.
Current owners of the 450X and 450 Apex models can look forward to receiving the OTA update, enabling cruise control on their vehicles. It is worth noting that the Ather 450X with Pro Pack offers enhanced connectivity features, likely including this update, as standard variants without Pro Pack may not support it.
The Ather 450X is available with a base 2.9 kWh battery pack priced at ₹1.23 lakh and a top-end 3.7 kWh battery pack priced at ₹1.43 lakh. The 2.9 kWh version offers a claimed range of 126 km, while the larger battery pack provides a claimed range of 161 km on a single charge.
The Ather 450 Apex, a limited-edition model launched to mark the company's 10th anniversary, is only available with the 3.7 kWh battery pack and includes Atherstack Pro as a standard feature. Priced at ₹1.84 lakh, the Ather 450 Apex offers a claimed range of 157 km and a top speed of 100 kmph, with a 0-40 kmph acceleration time of 2.9 seconds.
In addition to the cruise control feature, the Ather 450 Apex offers additional features such as a 7-inch touchscreen cluster, "magic twist," theft alert, and other enhancements. The Ather 450X, on the other hand, boasts a top speed of 90 kmph and a 0-40 kmph time of 3.3 seconds.
It's important to note that the upcoming CFMoto 450 MT and Hero 450 ADV are yet to be launched in the market. Meanwhile, Ather has launched the Rizta electric scooter in Nepal.
In June 2022, Ola Electric added cruise control to its S1 range via the OTA update, Ola Move OS 2.0. This move by Ather Energy indicates a growing trend towards advanced features in the electric scooter market.
