Unveiling K34 in Rückershausen - 20 years of meticulous preparations come to fruition

The K34, a vital road connecting Rückershausen to the country road "Auf der Heide" and serving as a central feeder for the industrial estate "In den Espen", underwent a significant renovation. The original plan was to complete the project by October 2024, but complex conditions led to delays.

The renovation was necessary as the old road no longer met current requirements. Over a length of over 900 meters, the road was upgraded with better traffic connections, improved safety standards, and a separate foot and cycle path for additional safety. The project cost around two million euros.

During the construction period, several challenges were encountered. Traffic management was difficult due to the road's significance as a connector, requiring partial or full closures and leading to detours and congestion. Adverse weather, such as rain or cold temperatures, may have delayed construction or complicated the laying of new road materials.

The area’s terrain also posed challenges, with hills, curves, or limited space requiring careful planning to avoid environmental impact and property disruption. Existing underground utilities, like water, gas, or electricity lines, needed to be identified and managed to avoid damage during construction. Coordination with local residents and businesses was essential to minimise inconvenience during the renovation.

Despite these challenges, the K34 renovation has yielded significant benefits. The road now allows two trucks to safely pass each other, and the modernised infrastructure has improved access to the industrial estate "In den Espen". County Commissioner Andreas Müller emphasised the importance of the wider road and improved safety standards.

The Siegener Straße, which was reopened on August 19, 2025, was renovated primarily to improve the road's safety, durability, and overall condition. With the completion of the K34 renovation, travellers and pedestrians can now enjoy a safer and more efficient journey on this important route.
