Pixel Watch 4 Unveils New Charging Dock and Upgrades
Google is set to unveil the Pixel Watch 4 on August 20, alongside the Pixel 10 lineup and the Pixel Buds 2a. According to retailer slides obtained by 9to5Google, the latest addition to the Pixel Watch series comes with a host of upgrades and innovative features.
One of the most notable improvements is the introduction of a new side-mounted proprietary charging dock. This redesigned charger, known as the Quick Charge Dock (Gen 3), promises 25% faster charging speeds compared to previous models. The charging pins, located at each end of the speaker grill on the side of the watch, enable the watch to stand upright on the charger, offering a convenient bedside clock mode with the display visible from the side.
The Pixel Watch 4 also adopts a Gen 3 sensor hub, which promises more accurate health and fitness tracking. This upgrade is expected to deliver greater precision, though final performance details will only be confirmed at launch and testing.
In addition to these improvements, the Pixel Watch 4 will come with Gemini built in. While details on Gemini are limited, it generally refers to advanced connectivity or processing features integrated into the watch, enhancing its overall functionality.
The Pixel Watch 4 is also rumoured to have a battery life of 30 hours for the 41mm model and 40 hours for the 45mm model. Furthermore, the redesigned charger features moisture detection, adding a protective measure during charging.
In summary, the Pixel Watch 4 introduces a new side-mounted proprietary charging dock boosting charging speed, upgrades to a third-generation sensor hub for better accuracy, and adds integrated Gemini support. These updates position the Pixel Watch 4 as a significant step forward in smartwatch technology.
