United Airlines to Revolutionize Inflight Connectivity with Starlink on Mainline Flights
United Airlines is set to revolutionise inflight connectivity with the first commercial flight using Starlink on a mainline aircraft, scheduled for 15 October. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted certification for a Boeing 737-800, marking a significant milestone in the partnership between United and Starlink.
United has been rolling out Starlink on its regional aircraft, with over half of its fleet now equipped. Customers have responded positively to the high-speed, low-latency internet service, which has transformed inflight experiences. The FAA's approval of the Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) amendment for the Boeing 737-800 allows United to extend this service to its mainline fleet.
Looking ahead, United plans to offer a wide range of inflight entertainment options with Starlink, including streaming services, shopping, and gaming. Starlink, meanwhile, aims to secure FAA approval for every United aircraft type receiving new equipment, ensuring consistent connectivity across the airline's fleet.
The first commercial flight with Starlink on a mainline United aircraft is imminent, promising a significant upgrade in inflight connectivity. With FAA certification secured and positive customer feedback, United and Starlink are poised to redefine inflight experiences, bringing passengers closer to the internet they know on the ground.
