UBE Corp. to Build $491M EV Battery Plant in Louisiana

UBE Corporation is set to build a $491 million facility in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, to manufacture key solvents for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. The plant, expected to start operations in 2027, will create numerous jobs and help reduce US reliance on Chinese imports.

The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality has granted an air permit for the facility, which will produce dimethyl carbonate and ethyl methyl carbonate. These chemicals are crucial in the manufacturing of EV batteries.
