Title: 'XO Kitty' Stepped Down as Netflix's Top 10 Show, Replaced by a Fresh Contender
That didn't last too long, huh? Just four days in, and season 2 of XO Kitty dropped from Netflix's Top 10 list. Guess who's back on top? You're right, it's that gritty miniseries, sneakily retaking its spot. We're talking about none other than American Primeval. Since its release on January 9, it's been a smashing success, easily claiming the title as the most-watched new Netflix series of 2025 (at least so far). It's a thrilling race between it and Squid Game season 2 to see which one takes the crown of most-viewed series in Netflix history.
I wouldn't worry too much about XO Kitty getting the boot just yet. It debuted at the top and, as we know, Netflix loves a cheap success story. Plus, they're fiercely dedicated to their "To All the Boys I've Loved Before" cinematic universe, which has already spawned three films and two seasons of this show. By the way, have you heard that XO Kitty is actually Netflix's first TV series to be spun off from an original movie? Fascinating little tidbit, eh?
As for American Primeval, its creator, the charming and humble Peter Berg, has hinted at the possibility of a prequel. In his own words, "We’re talking about it right now. Good pick (of an Isaac prequel). That’s the way we’d go if we do it, and I don’t know if we will, but that would be the way we would go." He's rather vocal about wanting to focus on a prequel, which gives us a good reason to believe that the prequel might just happen soon.
The rest of the Top 10 list doesn't change much. Squid Game remains steadfast at #3, with no signs of slipping off the top 5 since its Christmas release. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live continues to do well at #5, and it's now the best-performing Walking Dead show we've ever seen on Netflix. And Younger is still going strong at #6, with seven full seasons to keep you entertained.
So, how long will American Primeval manage to stay on top this time around? New shows are always around the corner, so it won't last forever. Keep your eyes peeled for any spin-off announcements and season 3 news for XO Kitty.
