Title: Exciting News for Steel Haze Ortus Fans from 'Armored Core VI'!
In an intriguing twist, Bandai Spirits is bringing another lesser-seen design from the tail end of Armored Core VI into the spotlight with a Robot Damashii toy. This time, it's the sleek and complex Steel Haze Ortus, piloted by protagonist Rusty in the game's penultimate missions.
Crafted by renowned mecha designer Takayuki Yanase, this beauty perfectly mirrors Rusty's high-speed combat style. It's a delight to see Yanase, a former FromSoftware employee, return to his roots to create such a stellar design for the series.
However, like the SOL 644 and HAL 826 toy releases before it, the Ortus may be a bit under the radar for many players. Why? According to game achievements, only around 30% of players made it to the game's conclusion.
This unexpected strategy from Bandai Spirits, releasing a toy for a lesser-known design, contrasts with their usual approach for mecha properties. Typically, title mecha from the series get mass release, while later designs become Premium Bandai items.
Despite this, both previous Armored Core VI Robot Damashii toys are still readily available in Tokyo shops. That's a strange situation, considering popular designs usually sell out like hotcakes. This anomaly could be due to the lack of familiarity with the designs.
I, for one, ended up getting the Robot Damashii HAL 826 toy. It's a stunning piece with exceptional sculpting and detailing. Despite not being a Metal Robot Damashii release, it features many diecast parts for flexibility.
The new Ortus toy looks equally impressive. I'm also looking forward to grabbing one when it hits Japanese shelves this July, priced at 19,800 yen ($125).
Armored Core VI is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Check out my review if you're interested.

Enrichment data suggests that Bandai Spirits is targeting a niche audience with this release, aiming to boost collectibility and engage with the community. The exclusivity and unique design of the Steel Haze Ortus contribute to its appeal as a collectible item. This strategy can generate interest even among lesser-known characters, fostering brand loyalty.
