Title: Ditching the Nintendo Switch for the Acer Nitro Blaze 11: A Game-Changer Alternative
Acer's proposition to the gaming community is an intriguing one: a handheld PC that's almost as big as a laptop, the Acer Nitro Blaze 11. Drawing inspiration from the Nitro Blaze 7 showcased at IFA last year, this supersized handheld functions as a Windows tablet with detachable controllers, much like the Lenovo Legion Go.
The handheld runs on the AMD Ryzen 7 8840HS, the same processor found in the Nitro Blaze 7 and other high-end handhelds like the Legion Go and Asus ROG Ally X. It's equipped with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 2TB of storage.
The size of the Blaze 11 is undeniably substantial. So much so that you can hardly reach the sticks or face buttons while holding it by the controller grips' bottom. Weighing in at 2.3 pounds, it's noticeably heavier than its competitors, such as the 1.4-pound Steam Deck and the 1.75-pound MSI Claw 8 AI. However, it boasts a front-facing webcam, making it feel more like a laptop than a handheld.
Acer's 11-inch handheld may not embody the Dual Play laptop concept with its transformable touchpad controllers, but it's a promising alternative. With a 2560 x 1600 IPS LCD touch display and a 144Hz VRR refresh rate, it promises a visually immersive experience. The device also comes with Hall effect sticks and face buttons to reduce drift, and Acer Game Space UI to access games and settings.

For those preferring something more manageable, Acer's upcoming mobile controller, the Nitro Mobile, may be an option. Its foldable design could make it more compact than conventional controllers. Scheduled for release in Q2 2025, it'll set you back $70.
Acer's 8-inch and 11-inch handhelds are slated for a Q2 2025 release. The Nitro Blaze 8 will cost $900, while the Blaze 11 will set you back $1,100. Despite the impressive specifications and performance, these handhelds may struggle to stand out against the sea of future handhelds.
