Thousands of Gaming Enthusiasts Gather to Witness Innovations in Gaming Industry at Gamescom Event

The annual Gamescom event, a celebrated gathering for video game enthusiasts, has begun in Cologne, Germany. This year, more than 1,500 exhibitors have gathered, setting a new record, ready to showcase their latest offerings to the eager crowds.

Thousands of fans are expected to flock to the Cologne exhibition halls in the coming days, where they can try out new games set to hit the market in the coming months or in 2026. Among the highly anticipated titles are "Call of Duty - Black Ops 7", "World of Warcraft - Midnight", "Bloodlines 2", and "Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight".

"Call of Duty - Black Ops 7" is a first-person shooter game that sends up to four players as a team into an apocalyptic future, where they also have to fight against the psychological terror of dark forces. "World of Warcraft - Midnight" is a game about an end-time battle of elves against brutal creatures. "Bloodlines 2" is a game about vampires, while "Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight" features Lego figures in a comical fight sequence.

The horror classic "Resident Evil" has a remake called "Requiem", which shows a survival struggle against the undead. "Death by Scrolling" by Ron Gilbert, a game designed in a retro style, is a nostalgic throwback to the 90s.

Amazon Prime was part of the opening show, presenting the second season of the post-apocalyptic action series "Fallout". The announcement included the trailer and the release date, December 17, 2025, on Amazon Prime Video. Last year, the Gamescom attracted 335,000 visitors, and this year, the federal research minister responsible for the industry, Dorothee Bär (CSU), and the NRW state premier, Hendrik Wüst (CDU), are expected among the guests.

Streaming providers such as Netflix, Disney+, and Paramount+ are increasingly present at the event. The games industry is becoming visually better thanks to new technology, as evident in the several dozen trailers for new video and computer games that were presented during the event. The actual fair begins on Wednesday morning and continues until Sunday.

The previews are meant to whet the fans' appetite and increase their purchasing readiness. With so many exciting games on display, it's sure to be an unforgettable event for gamers and industry professionals alike.
