The Swiss luxury watchmaker has achieved this exceptional lightness through innovative materials and technologies. The watch incorporates extensive use of silicon for key movement components such as the balance wheel, hairspring, escape wheel, and pallet lever. This material improves isochronism, reduces the need for lubrication, and contributes to weight reduction.
The case and overall construction push the boundaries of material science, responsible sourcing, and advanced design. The middle case is made from 90% recycled titanium, while the sides of the case and lugs are made from Nylo-foil and recycled fishing nets. The unidirectional rotating bezel is made from upcycled carbon fiber from IMOCA sailing boats.
The Diver AIR's movement, the in-house UN-374, is 80% air due to the removal of a large plate up top. This movement is mostly made of titanium, a first for the brand. The bridges of the movement are made narrower and have hollow centers, further reducing the watch's weight.
The Diver AIR comes with both a white and an orange elastic fabric strap, each weighing under 6 grams. Without the strap, the watch head alone weighs less than 46 grams.
