Tesla Introduces Actual Smart Summon in Europe and Middle East

Tesla has rolled out its Actual Smart Summon (A.S.S) feature in Europe and the Middle East, a development that marks a significant step forward in the company's autonomous driving capabilities. A.S.S., which is part of Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) suite, allows a Tesla vehicle to drive itself to its owner's location using the Tesla mobile app.

The feature, first released in September, is now available for Tesla vehicles in these regions. However, it's important to note that the update does not change the way the vehicle is controlled using the Tesla mobile app or the requirement for the vehicle to have FSD capabilities. The range of A.S.S. in Europe and the Middle East is limited to 15 meters, and its usage is currently confined to parking lots.

The Volkswagen Group announced in June 2023 that it would also be rolling out the A.S.S. feature in Central and Eastern Europe as well as the Middle East. The limitation of A.S.S. in Europe and the Middle East may be due to EU regulators, as FSD is not yet available in Europe. It is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2025.

A.S.S. is a feature that uses the Tesla mobile app to control the vehicle's movement. The vehicle drives itself to the owner's location, making it a convenient feature for owners. However, it's crucial to remember that A.S.S. is not a replacement for active driver supervision. The owner is still responsible for ensuring the vehicle's safe operation at all times.

In conclusion, Tesla's Actual Smart Summon (A.S.S) feature is now available in Europe and the Middle East, offering Tesla owners a new level of convenience. While the feature's usage is currently limited, it represents a significant step towards Tesla's goal of achieving full self-driving capabilities. As with all autonomous driving features, it's essential to use A.S.S. responsibly and always prioritise safety.
