Tesla Fixes Cybertruck Rearview Camera Delay with OTA Update

Tesla has launched an over-the-air (OTA) software update to address a rearview camera display issue in its 2024 Cybertruck models. The update, rolled out from September 19, 2024, ensures compliance with federal safety requirements and affects approximately 27,185 vehicles.

Tesla discovered the problem during an internal audit, which revealed a delay of up to 6-8 seconds in the camera image appearing on the screen when the Cybertruck is shifted into reverse. This delay could potentially increase the risk of a collision if drivers don't have a clear rear view.

The issue affects Cybertrucks manufactured between November 13, 2023, and September 14, 2024. Tesla has recalled these vehicles, with the recall identified as 24V-718. Owners and service centers will be notified by the end of September 2024, and letters to owners are expected to be mailed by late November 2024. Despite the issue, there have been no reported crashes or injuries.

Tesla has taken swift action to rectify the rearview camera display issue in the 2024 Cybertruck models. Owners of affected vehicles are advised to ensure they have received the OTA software update. Further action is not required for those who have already updated their vehicles.
