Tesla expands discounts on Cybertruck inventory in Canada beyond $16,000, in the U.S. above $11,000.

Tesla Cybertruck Discounts and Incentives: A Comparison between the U.S. and Canada

In the United States, Tesla Cybertruck buyers are currently benefiting from a range of incentives aimed at moving inventory before the federal tax credit expiration deadline on September 30, 2025. These incentives include a free 20” Cyber Wheel Upgrade with All-Terrain Tires valued at $3,500 for inventory lease orders only, 0% financing if Full Self-Driving (FSD) is purchased, and competitive lease rates starting from $779/month for the Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) Long Range model, rising to $1,078/month for the high-end Cyberbeast variant.

On the other hand, incentives in Canada are more limited. New Tesla buyers using a referral code can get CAD 1,300 off on Tesla models, including the Cybertruck. However, there are no direct government incentives for Teslas in Canada, as Tesla vehicles are currently ineligible for the federal iZEV Program. Some provinces may have their own incentives, but most, like Ontario, do not offer specific rebates for Teslas. Canadian buyers do benefit from a free lifetime Supercharging offer on all Model 3 inventory, but this has not been explicitly noted for Cybertruck inventory.

The Cybertruck inventory in both countries has seen increased discounts. In the U.S., discounts are being offered on the previous model year Cybertruck that is not eligible for the US$7,500 federal tax credit. In Canada, the newly announced discounts amount to 10% off. Notably, the RWD variant of the Cybertruck does not come with as many premium features as the higher-tier siblings. However, Foundation Series buyers in Canada still get free lifetime Supercharging, which could translate to significant long-term savings.

The Foundation Series Cybertruck in the U.S. includes free lifetime Supercharging, while in Canada, this benefit applies mainly to Model 3. The RWD variant of the Cybertruck is priced at $69,990, or $62,490 after applying the $7,500 federal EV tax credit. The RWD variant is not included in the current discounts. Non-Foundation Series Cybertruck in the U.S. has discounts of up to $10,550.

Tesla first applied discounts to the Cybertruck in Canada in February, equating to 5% discounts on both vehicles. The referral link provides three months of Full Self-Driving (FSD) for those buying a Tesla. It's important to note that the referral link is intended for those who found the information helpful in their decision to buy a Tesla.

In summary, while the deals in the U.S. are more substantial for Cybertruck buyers, focusing on lease incentives and upgrades, incentives in Canada are more limited, mostly to referral savings and provincial benefits.

  1. Given the competition within the automotive industry, the charging infrastructure of the Cybertruck in both the U.S. and Canada could witness innovation (technology) due to the ongoing race to offer attractive financing options (finance) to potential buyers.
  2. Concerning the looming expiration date of the federal tax credit on the Cybertruck in the U.S., one might anticipate a further surge in the transportation sector, as competitors may step up to match or surpass Tesla's offers, shaking up the status quo in the industry.
  3. As both countries adopt a more tech-driven approach to the finance and transportation sectors (industry), it would be promising to see how the evolution of the Cybertruck aligns with the ongoing green energy solutions and sustainable practices aimed to reduce carbon emissions within the technology landscape.
