Tesla Brings More Affordable Model 3 & Y to Europe
Tesla has unveiled plans to introduce more affordable versions of the Model 3 and Model Y to the European market. The Standard versions will be produced at the German factory in Grünheide, alongside US production. This move aims to prevent a significant price increase in the US due to the expiration of federal tax credits.
The new Model 3 Standard will start at $36,990, offering 321 miles EPA range and rear-wheel drive. Similarly, the Model Y Standard will be priced at $39,990 with the same range and drive type. These Standard versions retain the 15-inch touchscreen but lack additional Autopilot features, which can be purchased separately for $8,000.
In the US, Tesla has introduced 'Premium' versions of both models, which offer more range and cost $5,500 more than the Standard versions. Meanwhile, the new Model Y Performance has been launched in Europe with an increased price and range compared to its predecessor. A cheaper Model Y is expected to follow in Europe, with a price approximately 10% lower than the current model.
Tesla's expansion of Standard versions to Europe will provide more affordable electric vehicle news. The new models retain key features while offering simpler components and fewer features, making them accessible to a broader range of customers.
