Tees Valley Adopts Yunex Traffic's Fusion for Smarter, Greener Travel
Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) has chosen Yunex Traffic's Fusion software to manage traffic across the region. The Digital Transport Programme Delivery Manager at TVCA, Andrea Reacroft, revealed that Fusion is a key part of their innovative Digital Transport Strategy, aiming to reduce congestion and air pollution while improving journey times.
Fusion, a multimodal adaptive traffic control solution, optimizes traffic signal timings to prioritize active travel modes and cleaner air outcomes. It uses modern data sources to monitor traffic and detect incidents automatically, alerting authorities promptly. This helps improve bus service reliability, reduce delays, and lower emissions.
The software is designed to be easy to operate and reconfigure, allowing traffic managers to balance the demands of different road users. It ensures traffic management decisions are policy-driven and consider the needs of all road users. TVCA selected Fusion in 2025, attracted by its ability to enhance network performance without extensive infrastructure schemes, as mentioned by Wilke Reints, Managing Director of Yunex Traffic in the UK.
Fusion's implementation in Tees Valley is expected to bring significant benefits, including reduced congestion, lower emissions, and improved public transport reliability. The CiTTi Awards, celebrating innovations in intelligent transport systems, will be held on 26 November 2024 in London, where such advancements can be recognized and shared.
