Tech Leads Business Sector, Survey Finds

A recent survey of 265 businesses reveals insights into their operations and structures. Conducted in two tranches, the survey sheds light on the tech industry's prominence, company sizes, and functional roles.

Tech leads the way with 12 percent of surveyed businesses operating primarily in this sector. The majority of respondents, 92 percent, are not present in multiple countries, indicating a focus on domestic markets.

Company sizes vary, with 20 percent employing fewer than 500 staff and 26 percent having between 10,001 and 50,000 employees. Notably, 29 percent of surveyed businesses generate an annual revenue of US$1.1 billion to US$10 billion.

Functional roles are diverse: 27 percent are members of the legal function, while 19 percent work in compliance and ethics. The size of the company operating the compliance and ethics function remains unspecified.

The survey paints a picture of businesses that are largely tech-focused, domestically oriented, and of varying sizes. The prominence of legal and compliance roles suggests a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance and ethical practices.
