Tech Giants Microsoft, Apple, and Facebook to Host Virtual Developer Conferences Amid COVID-19 Surge
Microsoft 365, Apple, and Facebook have announced their plans for upcoming developer conferences, with all events taking place virtually due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Microsoft's Build and Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) are set for late May and early June respectively, while Facebook's F8 Refresh will kick off on June 2.
Microsoft's annual Build conference, which typically showcases new technologies and features for its Office and Windows products, will be fully virtual from May 25-27. The tech giant has confirmed these dates to The Verge, following the success of last year's digital event. Meanwhile, Apple will host its WWDC from June 7-11 in an all-online format, providing developers with the latest updates on its platforms and services.
Facebook, too, has opted for a virtual event with its F8 Refresh on June 2. The social media giant aims to connect with developers and share new tools and products. In other news, Google has decided not to participate in-person in the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2021, citing current COVID-19 travel restrictions and protocols.
With the global surge in Covid cases, tech companies are prioritizing safety by hosting their major events virtually. These online conferences offer an opportunity for developers to learn about the latest innovations and engage with tech giants from the comfort of their homes.
