Stadium-Wide Audio and Visual Enhancement Implemented by Springfield Cardinals
Hammons Field Upgrades Audio System with EAW MKD Series Loudspeakers
Hammons Field, the home of the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, has undergone an audio overhaul, enhancing the fan experience significantly. The stadium, which opened in 2004, serves as a popular venue for minor league baseball games and is also used by Missouri State University Bears for games.
Paragon 360, an audio, video, and lighting integrator, was chosen to carry out the upgrade. They selected the EAW MKD series loudspeakers for their ability to provide better coverage, higher output, and better pattern control. A total of 14 EAW MKD1296 3-way full-range loudspeakers were installed for the main seating areas.
To complement the MKD main speakers, EAW MKC80 and MKC120 2-way coaxial point source loudspeakers were used as fill speakers. These were deployed throughout the upper decks, club spaces, outdoor suite seating, the Coca-Cola Redbird Roost seating, common area, and stadium entrances. Specifically, 18 MKC80 speakers were used for the outdoor suite seating, seven for the Coca-Cola Redbird Roost seating, six MKC120 speakers for the Coca-Cola Redbird Roost common area, and seven were used across the stadium entrances.
All speakers were hung using the appropriate EAW U-Bracket. The modernized speaker system was installed in 2012, just in time for opening day.
Nelms, a representative, praised the new system, stating that its intelligibility and output are outstanding, significantly enhancing the fan experience at Hammons Field. EAW pulled off a miracle to deliver the speakers within the narrow installation window before the first pitch of 2025.
The Springfield Cardinals wanted a solution for the audio upgrade that would preserve the existing speaker locations and deliver improved clarity, output, and coverage. The stadium features the Coca-Cola Redbird Roost, the SpringNet Champions Club, a spacious main concourse, private suites, and new third-level executive suites. Hammons Field also offers additional 2,500 general admission spots.
With the audio upgrade complete, fans can now enjoy clearer and more powerful audio during games, enhancing their overall experience at Hammons Field.
