SpaceX's Starbase now officially recognized as a city within the state of Texas.

Public Beach Access:
The new city includes land near Boca Chica Beach, an area popular with the public. SpaceX has contributed significant funds to upgrade Cameron County’s Beach Access #3, enhancing public usability of the beach. Environmental and Infrastructure Concerns:
SpaceX is building a new liquid oxygen plant near the Starbase launch site, which could reduce hazardous liquid gas transport via road but has raised local environmental concerns about the facility’s impact and safety. The newly incorporated city does not provide public utilities; instead, SpaceX operates private utilities, including a recently established drinking water system. This system supplies water only to SpaceX facilities and residents within Starbase and does not guarantee public water access, representing a privatization of essential services within the area.
The renaming and incorporation of Starbase faced scrutiny from governmental bodies about whether the city’s name violates policies against corporate promotion and raised questions about the governance by SpaceX executives.
The city structure is expected to enable better coordination of services and help streamline operations, especially around launches.
