South Korean Company Invests $8.06 Million in Bangladesh's Outdoor Recreation Industry
A South Korean company, OCF Co. Ltd., has made a significant investment in Bangladesh's Mongla Export Processing Zone (Mongla EPZ). The company will establish a manufacturing facility, investing approximately $8.06 million, to produce a wide range of outdoor recreation products.
The investment is set to create around 820 jobs for Bangladeshi nationals, according to the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA). The products that will be manufactured include tents, tent accessories, camping furniture, furniture accessories, aluminum and carbon products, ski and trekking poles, mountain and walking sticks, bed cots, stands, pet furniture, arrows, and various types of bags.
Hyun Gil Kim, Chairman of OCF Co. Ltd., expressed his gratitude for BEPZA's cooperation and support during the signing ceremony, which took place at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka on August 6, 2025. Major General Ziaur Rahman, BEPZA's Executive Chairman, reaffirmed the organisation's commitment to providing a secure and supportive environment for investors, and urged OCF Co. Ltd. to act as an ambassador for attracting further South Korean investment to Bangladesh's EPZs.
Md Ashraful Kabir, BEPZA Member for Investment Promotion, and Hyun Gil Kim signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. The event was attended by Md Imtiaz Hossain, Md Tanvir Hossain, and ASM Anwar Parvez, who served in their respective roles at BEPZA, as well as representatives of OCF Co. Ltd.
The South Korean company aims to start production by next year, and this is their second project under BEPZA, reflecting their continued confidence in investing in Bangladesh. BEPZA hopes that OCF Co. Ltd.'s investment will help attract further South Korean investments, especially in Bangladesh's EPZs.
