The FH JOANNEUM Aeronautics Team, a dynamic group of students from the University of Applied Sciences in Austria, are making waves in the aviation industry with their innovative projects and achievements. One of their most notable endeavours is their participation in the prestigious Design Build Fly (DBF) competition.

This year's DBF competition aims to design, build, and test a UAV for the delivery of vaccines. The best 110 teams are invited to write a design report and potentially qualify for the fly-offs in Wichita, Kansas, USA. The FH JOANNEUM team has already registered for this year's competition with a design proposal and has received approval for the competition in the USA.
Lucas Kappel, a resident of STUWO Heim Smart Living in Graz, is the subteam leader responsible for fundraising for the DBF team. He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Air Traffic Management at FH JOANNEUM. During his studies, Lucas obtained his private pilot's license, further demonstrating his passion for aviation.
The FH JOANNEUM Aeronautics Team consists of three active teams: Team Drone Tech (TDT), the Laviators, and the Design Build Fly (DBF) team. The DBF team maintains a monthly blog series, "Hangartalk", which appears on the FH JOANNEUM website, providing insights into their projects and preparations for competitions.
Each year, hundreds of teams from universities around the world apply for the DBF competition. The FH JOANNEUM team, along with other members of joanneum Aeronautics, is looking forward to April and their trip to Wichita, Kansas for the competition.
The team's location in Graz, with the aerospace lab conveniently situated near their STUWO apartments, allows for quick access to essential resources, further facilitating their innovative work.
