New Smith & Wesson Offerings: The M&P FPC 22LR Rifle and M&P 22X Pistol

Smith & Wesson has expanded its M&P (Military & Police) series with two new additions, the M&P FPC 22LR rifle and the M&P 22X pistol. These firearms, while differing in form, share similarities in design and functionality.

The M&P FPC 22LR rifle is a rimfire offering, featuring a 16.25" barrel, threaded 1/2x28 TPI, and sharing a magazine with the M&P 22X pistol. It boasts M-Lok slots on the remaining sides of the handguard, making it versatile for various accessories. Weighing about a pound less than the 9 mm Luger variants, the M&P FPC 22LR rifle offers a lighter, more manageable option for shooters.

The M&P FPC 22LR rifle is equipped with a flat-faced trigger, reversible magazine release, and utilizes the same interchangeable backstraps as the M&P Compact models, ensuring a comfortable and customisable shooting experience. Notably, it folds horizontally, allowing the optics to stay in place, a practical feature for those who prefer a compact setup.

On the other hand, the M&P 22X pistol is modelled after the M&P 5.7 and 22 Magnum pistols. It has external dimensions similar to the M&P 22 Magnum, but weighs only 16.32 ozs. The pistol slide is made of aluminum, with an optics cut, and features a Hiviz LiteWave H3 front sight with fiber optic insert and a rear serrated notch. The M&P 22X comes with two 20-round magazines, and 10-round magazines will also be available.

The M&P 22X has a unique feature: its barrel bushing can be replaced with an included 1/2x28 TPI thread adapter, making the pistol suppressor ready. It also sports a slim polymer frame, Picatinny accessory rail, and an ambidextrous design, providing ample room for customisation.

Both the M&P FPC 22LR rifle and the M&P 22X pistol come with their respective accessories. The M&P FPC 22LR rifle includes two spare magazines that fit into the rifle's on-stock carrier, while the M&P 22X comes with two 20-round magazines.

In terms of pricing, the M&P FPC 22LR rifle has an MSRP of $549, while the M&P 22X has an MSRP of $499. The M&P 22X also offers an affordable ammunition cost, with a 20-round box priced at $26. For more information, visit Smith & Wesson's webpages for the M&P 22X and M&P FPC 22LR.

While the person who developed these firearms is not publicly specified by name, they are part of Smith & Wesson's ongoing commitment to innovation and quality in their M&P series. The M&P FPC 22LR rifle and M&P 22X pistol are set to provide shooters with new options for rimfire and compact shooting experiences.
