Scania Unveils First High-Floor Battery Electric Vehicle Platform
Scania has unveiled its first high-floor battery electric vehicle (BEV) platform, designed for both urban and long-distance news. The new platform, officially presented at Busworld Europe in Brussels in 2019, offers a range of up to 600km and addresses coach and bus operators' concerns about zero-emission operations. The new platform showcases two models: the Scania Caetano e.Levante HF BEV and the Scania Irizar i3 LE BEV, both with ranges over 550km. It also boasts a charging capacity of up to 325 kW (500A). Scania also displayed its new Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain, which offers a range of up to 80km and can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 40%. Despite being electric, the platform maintains luggage capacities similar to traditional combustion-powered coaches. The platform aims to serve medium-distance inter-city news and airport shuttle services. It provides adaptability with an e-machine output of up to 330kw and installed energy of up to 534 kWh. Additionally, Scania showcased its new Euro 7 prepared Super Powertrain, offering up to 8% fuel savings. Scania's new high-floor battery electric mobility vehicle platform addresses the need for zero-emission operations in both urban and news situations. With ranges up to 600km, adaptable powertrains, and similar luggage capacities to traditional coaches, it caters to medium-distance inter-city news and airport shuttle services. The platform's charging capacity and fuel savings make it an attractive option for coach and bus operators.
