Samsung's First Smart Glasses Unveiled in January, Summer Release Planned
Samsung is set to unveil its first smart glasses at the January 2025 Galaxy Unpacked event, with a summer release planned. The tech giant is rumored to price them competitively, around $299 to $349, to rival Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses.
The Samsung Glasses, as they may be called, will likely feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 processor and a 12MP camera, similar to Meta's offering. However, unlike the Ray-Ban smart glasses, Samsung's version won't have a display. Instead, it's expected to offer features like QR code, gesture, and human recognition, powered by Google's Gemini AI model.
Samsung's foray into smart glasses comes after its successful launch of the Galaxy Ring in July 2024. The company is expected to integrate the smart glasses seamlessly with its existing Galaxy ecosystem. Luxottica, which collaborated with Meta on the Ray-Ban smart glasses, is rumored to be involved in the development of the Samsung Glasses.
Samsung's smart glasses, priced competitively and integrated with the Galaxy ecosystem, are set to hit the market in July 2025. While details are scarce, the tech giant is expected to tease the product at the January 2025 Samsung Unpacked event.
