Samsung Unintentionally Reveals Its Upcoming Tablet Model, Showcasing a Notch Feature

Cheap Android tablets are a dozen a penny, but finding one that can rival an iPad is like searching for a needle in a haystack. That's why the leak of Samsung's Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, which appeared unexpectedly on an official Bixby support page, has caught everyone's attention.

The leak was originally discovered by 91Mobiles. In the image, Samsung's latest tablet can be seen propped up behind a close-up photo of a Samsung Galaxy smartphone in the foreground. It's clear that this is an unreleased product since the tablet has a notch. Samsung later replaced the photo with a more recent one, but screenshots of the leaked image give us a sneak peek into what we can expect from the Galaxy Tab S8.

The screenshot supports previous rumors about the tablet, which will reportedly be called the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. The device is expected to have a 14.6-inch OLED display, making it larger than the largest iPad Pro and almost as big as a laptop. The panel is expected to offer a 120Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2960 x 1848. While these specifications are standard for tablets, the notch is not. It's rumored that the Tab S8 Ultra will copy Apple's most divisive design decision, which was last seen on the latest MacBook Pros, by adding two 12-megapixel cameras for video calls. The secondary lens will be a wide-angle one, making it easier to capture groups.

In terms of specs, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is expected to run on Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, along with 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. S Pen support is also expected, as it has been on Samsung's previous premium tablets. There's likely to be optional 5G and two additional rear cameras as well.

The most exciting rumored feature for the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is its massive 11,200 mAh battery. If the battery life is anything like what I experienced on the Galaxy Tab S7 FE last year, then this tablet could very well be a mobile powerhouse.

Samsung is expected to launch a trio of tablets for every type of user this spring, alongside their Galaxy S22 flagship devices. We're hoping to hear more about the new Galaxy device lineup in February, so stay tuned.

The unexpected leak of Samsung's Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra on an official Bixby support page has sparked enthusiasm, indicating a strong interest in advanced tech devices that could potentially challenge competitors in the future. The leaked image reveals a notch, a design feature that suggests Samsung might be incorporating dual 12-megapixel cameras for video calls, a move reminiscent of Apple's latest MacBook Pros.
