The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, the latest foldable smartphone from the tech giant, has been unveiled with a significant improvement in display durability. The device's display has been rated for an impressive 500,000 folds, a 150% increase over previous generations.
This enhanced durability has been verified by rigorous testing conducted by Bureau Veritas, where the device maintained full functionality after 500,000 folds at room temperature over 13 days.
Key factors contributing to this improved durability include advanced display engineering and materials, enabling the screen to withstand more folds without damage. The cover screen has also been upgraded to Corning® Gorilla® Glass Ceramic 2, a ceramic-enhanced glass that enhances surface durability while maintaining clarity.
The display's improved ability to absorb impacts, the use of 50% thicker ultra-thin glass, and a new high-elastic adhesive applied to each layer inside its OLED panel are other factors that contribute to the Galaxy Z Fold 7's impressive display durability.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 retains the IP48 water and dust resistance rating, meaning its resistance against fine dust and water ingress remains similar to its predecessor.
Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 7, along with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Watch 8, are now open on Samsung.com. For those considering a pre-order, there's an additional $50 in Samsung credit available, but it applies only if you check out within 30 minutes and only until July 24.

Notably, the Galaxy Z Fold 7's display rating of 500,000 folds equates to over 6 years for heavy users folding more than 200 times daily. This makes the Galaxy Z Fold 7 more durable than its competitors, such as the OnePlus Open, which was rated for 1,000,000 folds.
