Samsung's latest foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, have experienced a substantial increase in initial sales compared to their predecessors, according to recent reports.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7, in particular, has achieved its highest pre-order sales ever, with over 50% more pre-orders than the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Combined pre-orders for the Fold 7 and Flip 7 rose by about 25% year-over-year. Pre-orders through US carriers jumped nearly 60%, attributed partly to customers being able to physically experience the improvements and partly to easier financing options making the high cost more acceptable.
One of the key factors contributing to this sales growth is Samsung's focus on tangible innovations and stylish designs. The Z Fold 7 is the slimmest foldable yet, more pocket-friendly, with smart AI features enhancing productivity. The Z Flip 7 boasts the largest-ever 4.1-inch, edge-to-edge FlexWindow cover display, the slimmest design in the series, a flagship 50MP camera, and the largest battery ever in a Flip device.
Samsung's latest foldables "build on years of consumer feedback," as stated by Drew Blackard, Senior Vice President and Head of Product Strategy, Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics America. He further added that foldables have become a mainstream choice for users.
The popularity of the colourful models is evident, with the Blue Shadow model of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 making up nearly half of the pre-orders, and the Coralred Galaxy Z Flip 7 accounting for roughly 25% of pre-orders.
Samsung also supports sales with promotions such as trade-in discounts up to $1,100 and bundled offers with Galaxy Watch devices, enhancing purchase incentives.
Consumer feedback appears positive overall, noting excitement from buyers for the new features and design refinements, contrasting with the lukewarm reception of the previous generation models, which lacked compelling innovation.
