Romanian organization OVES collaborates with American tech firm MSI in creating AI-driven countermeasures against rogue drones and missiles.
The New AI-Powered Anti-Drone System: A Game Changer in Defense Technology
Romanian tech company OVES Enterprise has teamed up with US defense giant MSI Defense Solutions to develop an advanced AI-powered anti-drone and anti-missile system. This partnership is set to revolutionize battlefield defense, tackling the modern threat of autonomous aerial attacks.
While MSI Defense Solutions is renowned for its partnership with the US Department of Defense and its expertise in counter-drone and missile defense, OVES Enterprise holds the key to the collaboration with its proprietary Nemesis AI software. The software will be integrated into MSI's EAGLS (Enhanced Anti-UAS Ground Laser System), a mobile platform already used for counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS).
The new system, dubbed as a "lightweight, mobile, and radar-enabled counter-UAS powerhouse," will leverage the combined strengths of both companies. It will provide faster, more precise threat classification and engagement, according to Nguyen Trinh, CEO of MSI Defense Solutions.
Traditional radar-based systems have limitations as drones become increasingly autonomous and harder to track. The new system aims to surpass these limitations with a unique approach known as "super sensor fusion." This strategy incorporates RGB, thermal, and neuromorphic cameras, enabling independenct threat detection regardless of radar or GPS signals. Nemesis AI will then analyze real-time data, recognize incoming threats, and recommend the best interception methods using onboard AI-driven decision-making.
New hardware engineered to process high data volumes at a rapid speed is also part of the setup. Additionally, the system incorporates AI-powered turret control, boosting both precision and speed of response. It can function as a standalone unit or as part of a larger defense network, making it adaptable to various operational scenarios.
OVES Enterprise claims that the system can outpace emerging drone threats at the tactical edge, offering a significant advantage over conventional defense solutions. Furthermore, the system is estimated to be around half the cost of comparable defense solutions in the market, making it an efficient and cost-effective option for defense forces contending with increasingly sophisticated threats.
Based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, OVES Enterprise has risen to prominence in AI, defense, and aerospace software development. The company also recently established a drone production division, reinforcing its commitment to cutting-edge defense technology.
