Revitalize Your Outdated Android: These Tricks Transform it into a Fresh Device Again

In the world of smartphones, Android devices have become a popular choice for many. Here are some useful tips to help you get the most out of your Android device, from optimising battery life to securing your device and improving its performance.

Firstly, managing your home screen is crucial. Turning off the option to add icons to the Home Screen prevents new apps from appearing on the home screen when installed, which can help keep your device organised and clutter-free. This, in turn, can improve phone performance and battery life.

To maximise battery life, consider turning off auto screen brightness or adaptive brightness and setting the brightness level below 50%. Dark mode, which can be found in the settings app on Android 10 or newer, can also help reduce eye strain and improve battery life, especially on OLED displays, especially on flagship phones.

Clearing out unused apps, optimising battery use, and turning off background drains can further improve phone speed and prolong its lifespan. Utilise Adaptive Battery and Battery Optimization features to optimise app usage and battery life.

When it comes to security, the Find My Device feature is a must-have. To enable this feature, locate it in the Settings app and ensure it's activated. With Find My Device, you can see the device's location on a map, make it ring, lock it, set a lock screen note, or remotely wipe it. Samsung devices can use Samsung's Find My Mobile service instead of Find My Device.

To track a lost or stolen Android device, visit android.com/find or findmymobile.samsung.com from any PC or mobile device.

Do Not Disturb mode can be found in Settings > Sounds (or Notifications) and can be used to silence the phone during designated hours. Some phones may refer to Do Not Disturb as Downtime or Quiet Time. You can typically make an exception for repeat callers and favourite contacts in Do Not Disturb settings.

Lastly, older Android models can still run smoothly with software updates, clearing unused apps, and adjusting settings. Honor, Samsung, and Xiaomi have recently offered extended Android software support, with Honor guaranteeing seven years of updates and Samsung promising six major Android updates plus six years of security patches. Xiaomi also provides up to six years of updates on flagship models like the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, making their devices profitable for long-term use.

By following these tips, you can ensure that your Android device performs optimally, lasts longer, and remains secure. Happy Android-ing!
