Retro's Exciting Prospects: Stekker and the Pinnacle of Primordial Praises

In the heart of the Netherlands, Breda-based artist Stekker (real name Teun Streefkerk) is making waves in the modern jungle and drum and bass scenes. With a relentless pursuit of authenticity, Stekker has garnered attention for his innovative productions that blend classic jungle rhythms with contemporary electronic elements, helping to revitalize and evolve the genre.

As of mid-2025, Stekker is recognised as a prominent figure in the industry. He continues to actively produce and release music, frequently dropping new singles and EPs. His music is associated with well-known labels in the jungle and drum and bass communities, and he performs live DJ sets at various electronic music festivals and club events, maintaining a strong presence in the scene.

Stekker's releases have received praise from critics and fans alike for their energy, technical skill, and homage to classic jungle sounds. His tracks have been featured on influential radio shows and playlists dedicated to jungle and drum and bass music. He has built a loyal fanbase both in the Netherlands and internationally, and is considered part of the new generation bringing jungle music into the spotlight in the 2020s.

Stekker's musical journey began relatively late, around the age of 20 or 21, initially producing for friends who were into rapping. His breakthrough came when he discovered Dario Potenza, the programmer for the Amigo Sampler VST, after Potenza posted a free plugin online. This collaboration has made jungle production more accessible for aspiring producers worldwide.

In 2023, Stekker plans to release an album, aiming for a sound that can be listened to while chilling at home, incorporating ambient elements. He prefers to release his music independently and has a clear vision for how he wants his album to look and feel.

Stekker's label, ruff 'n tuff records, prioritizes quality over quantity and has a rapidly growing following. Notable collaborations on the label include DJ Sofa, Cheetah, Phineus II, Coco Bryce, the Tekno Sucks crew, and Worsley.

Despite his success as a producer, Stekker does not see himself as a DJ and prefers making music that others play rather than touring. He is excited about growing his label, RUFF N TUFF Records, and maintaining quality over quantity.

With his unique blend of classic and contemporary sounds, Stekker is a key contributor to the contemporary jungle scene, respected for both his production talents and live performances.

  1. Stekker's expertise in sound design, particularly in the fusion of classic jungle rhythms with modern electronic elements, has led to his music being showcased on various gadgets such as Amigo Sampler VST, making jungle production more accessible.
  2. As technology advances, Stekker's work in entertainment continues to evolve, with his upcoming album promising a combination of energetic jungle beats, ambient elements, and a listening experience that transcends traditional club environments, inviting fans to enjoy his music at home.
