Renault, Minth Join Forces for French EV Battery Casing Production

Renault Group and Minth Group have joined forces to produce battery casings in France. The joint venture, to be based at Renault ElectriCity's Ruitz plant, aims to support the growth of electric vehicles and strengthen Renault's position in the industry.

The new venture will install two production lines in Ruitz by 2023, with a capacity of 300,000 battery casings per year by 2025. These casings, strategic components for electric vehicles, will be supplied to Renault plants in Douai and Maubeuge.

Renault Group's EVP Industry, Jose-Vicente de los Mozos, views this partnership as a way to bolster Renault's presence in the electric vehicle value chain. Dr Jimmy Wong, Managing Director of Minth Europe, expresses gratitude for Renault's support and sees the joint venture as beneficial for both companies and the local economy.

The finalization of the joint venture is expected by early 2023, subject to approval by employee representative bodies and competition authorities. Once established, the venture will play a significant role in Renault ElectriCity's industrial cluster and the broader electric vehicle market.
