Disabling Meta AI in WhatsApp: Steps to remove the blue AI assistant once more - Removing Meta's AI from WhatsApp: A Guide on Disabling the AI-powered Chat Assistant

Got tired of that pesky AI assistant spinning its wheels and cluttering up your chats? Fret not! While we can't fully ditch the Meta AI bot on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook yet, we can (sort of) make it disappear. Here's a quick guide on how to minimize its presence.

Annoyed by Meta AI on WhatsApp? We’ve got solutions!

  1. Archive or Delete the Meta AI Chat:
  2. Archive: Swipe left and tap "Archive" to hide the AI bot from your active chats.
  3. Delete: Tap "Delete" to permanently remove the chat from your list.
  4. Mute Meta AI Notifications:
  5. Open the Meta AI chat, tap the name at the top, head to "Notifications" and choose "Mute" to silence its persistent pings.

Remember: There's no option to permanently disable it altogether on WhatsApp, but at least it won't disturb you as much anymore.

Instagram AI Bot: Take Control

  1. Turn Off AI Features:
  2. Navigate to your profile, tap the menu, select "Settings and privacy," then "AI features;" toggle off the features you find annoying.
  3. Mute Notifications for Meta AI:
  4. Tap the search bar (now a blue circle), tap the arrow, engage in a chat with the AI, tap the info icon, select "Mute" and choose the duration that suits you best.

Unfortunately, you can't eradicate the Meta AI on Instagram either, but at least you can reduce its intrusion.

Mastering Meta AI on Facebook (and Messenger)

  1. Disable AI in Chats (Messenger):
  2. Open Messenger, tap your profile picture, scroll to "AI assistants," then toggle off "AI in chats."
  3. Mute Meta AI Notifications:
  4. Tap the blue circle (replacing the search bar), tap the arrow, engage in a chat with the AI, tap the info icon, choose "Mute" and select "Until I change it" for an indefinite silent period.
  5. Limit AI-Driven Features:
  6. Head to Facebook settings > "Audience and Visibility" > "Posts" and disable "Allow comment summaries" if you're sick of AI-poweredsummary summarizations.

Sadly, fully opting out of the Meta AI remains a pipedream on Facebook as well, but these steps can help you manage its meddlesome nature.

In conclusion, while we can't completely turn off or delete the Meta AI from our Meta platforms, we can make it considerably less bothersome by effectively hiding it and limiting its functionalities.

The Commission may need to consider the implications of the draft directive on the development and deployment of technology, particularly in the field of artificial-intelligence, as it pertains to privacy and user consent within messaging apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook.

In light of the increasing use of artificial-intelligence and technology in messaging platforms, the Commission might consider including provisions in the draft directive to ensure transparency, user control, and privacy protections, thereby enhancing user experiences and building trust in such systems.
