Ram 1500 Unveils Powerful Hurricane Engine, Boosts Performance and Tech
Ram Trucks New Zealand has unveiled a significant update to its popular 1500 pickup truck, introducing a new 'Hurricane tracker' twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine. This replaces the outgoing 5.7-litre Hemi V8, promising improved performance and efficiency.
The new engine, available in two versions, offers a substantial boost in power and torque. The standard output (SO) Hurricane tracker engine delivers 313kW and 635Nm, while the high output (HO) version provides an impressive 403kW and 707Nm. This represents increases of 7.6% and 14.2% for the SO engine, and 38.5% and 27.2% for the HO engine compared to the previous V8.
The new engine also offers a smoother driving experience, with 90% of its torque available from just 2,350rpm. This should result in a more refined and responsive drive.
The updated Ram 1500 is available in two trims: Laramie Sport and Limited. The Laramie Sport starts at $164,990 and comes with the SO Hurricane tracker engine. It features a range of new features including redesigned LED lights, a 14.4-inch infotainment screen, and a power tailgate. The Limited model, starting at $185,990, adds the HO engine and further luxury features like animated lights, proximity lighting, a larger fuel tank, and massaging seats.
The new Ram 1500, with its powerful Hurricane tracker engine and array of new features, is set to build on the success of its predecessor. Jeff Barber, General Sales Manager of Ram Trucks New Zealand, will lead the sales effort for these exciting new models.
