Qualcomm Wins Delaware Court Ruling in ARM-Nuvia Acquisition Dispute
A U.S. district court in Delaware has ruled in favor of Qualcomm in its legal dispute with ARM over the acquisition of Nuvia. This marks the end of the third claim in the ongoing saga, but ARM plans to appeal the decision.
The court agreed with Qualcomm's argument that Nuvia's CPU core designs were not determined by the ARM instruction set and were not ARM technology. Therefore, no consent was needed for the transfer of these designs to Qualcomm. This ruling comes after ARM argued that Qualcomm's acquisition of Nuvia breached their licensing agreement, as Nuvia's license was not transferred with consent.
The trial for Qualcomm's countersuit against ARM, accusing the company of breach of contract, unfair interference, and hindering innovation, is scheduled for March 2026 at the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware.
The legal battle between Qualcomm and ARM continues, with ARM planning to appeal the recent ruling. The outcome of Qualcomm's countersuit, set for March 2026, will further shape the future of these tech giants' relationship.
