Qualcomm Boosts IoT Portfolio with Sequans' 4G Tech Acquisition
Qualcomm has bolstered its IoT offerings with the acquisition of Sequans' 4G IoT technology. The deal, finalised between Qualcomm Technologies and Sequans Communications, sees Qualcomm integrate Sequans' tech into its connectivity solutions portfolio. Both companies' leaders expressed enthusiasm about the move.
Nakul Duggal, Qualcomm's group general manager, affirmed the acquisition supports their commitment to delivering top-notch IoT solutions and solidifies their leadership in edge intelligence. Georges Karam, Sequans' CEO, noted the asset sale will bring significant benefits to customers, ensuring continued support for their 4G portfolio and 5G innovation.
The acquisition doesn't mark the first collaboration between the two companies. Sequans, previously acquired by Renesas Electronics in 2022, will retain a perpetual license to use, commercialise, and advance the acquired 4G IoT technologies.
Qualcomm's purchase of Sequans' 4G IoT technology strengthens its IoT portfolio and maintains Sequans' innovation in the field. Both companies look forward to the benefits this integration will bring to their customers and the industry.
