Volkswagen Unveils Affordable Electric Vehicle, ID. EVERY1

Volkswagen is set to strengthen its presence in the electric vehicle market with the introduction of its new affordable electric vehicle, ID. EVERY1. The announcement comes as part of the company's broader push into the electric small car segment and aligns with its commitment to sustainable mobility, as outlined in the 'Zukunft Volkswagen' agreement.

ID. EVERY1 is a key component of Volkswagen's 'triple A' plan - Accelerate, Attack, and Achieve, which aims to accelerate the company's transition to electric vehicles. The anticipated base price of ID. EVERY1 is approximately €20,000 (approx. ₹18 lakh), making it an affordable and accessible electric vehicle option for European consumers.

The ID. 2ALL, another affordable electric vehicle, is also in the works. Scheduled for launch in 2026, it will have a base price of under €25,000 (approx. ₹23 lakh). Both ID. EVERY1 and the ID. 2ALL are based on an enhanced version of Volkswagen's modular electric drive (MEB) platform.

Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schäfer emphasized the significance of positioning ID. EVERY1 as an affordable and profitable EV from Europe for Europe. He stated, "ID. EVERY1 embodies our core values and is designed to provide a high-quality electric vehicle tailored for the European market."

The next-generation electric Golf and the high-volume electric T-Roc will be built at the Wolfsburg facility on Volkswagen's new Scalable Systems Platform (SSP). This strategic move towards electric vehicles strengthens Volkswagen's presence in the electric vehicle market.

In spring 2024, the public presentation of the production version of ID. EVERY1 is scheduled. Employees at the Wolfsburg plant will be given an exclusive first look at ID. EVERY1's design before its public debut. The concept version of ID. EVERY1 will be unveiled on March 5, while the production model is scheduled for release in 2027.

ID. EVERY1 is part of Volkswagen's broader push into the electric small car segment, alongside the upcoming ID. 2ALL. This commitment to affordable EVs reinforces Volkswagen's vision for economic stability, employment security, and technological leadership in sustainable mobility, as outlined in the 'Zukunft Volkswagen' agreement.

In 2023, Volkswagen sold 383,100 all-electric vehicles, following the success of its ID product family, which has sold over 1.35 million units globally since its 2019 debut. Daniela Cavallo, Chairwoman of the General and Group Works Council of Volkswagen AG, stated that ID. EVERY1 would embody Volkswagen's core values.

The Wolfsburg plant will remain central to Volkswagen's electric transformation, with the relocation of Golf production to Mexico freeing up space for new EV production. This move further solidifies Volkswagen's commitment to sustainable mobility and its future in the electric vehicle market.
