Porsche has announced the return of all-wheel drive variants of the 911 Carrera S this fall, with the 911 Carrera 4S set to offer a 30-horsepower increase compared to its previous version.

The 2026 Carrera 4S lineup, which includes Coupe, Cabriolet, and Targa models, features a 473-horsepower twin-turbo flat-six engine, Porsche Traction Management (a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system), sport exhaust, upgraded brakes, and other enhancements borrowed from the previous-generation Carrera GTS.

The addition of all-wheel drive makes the 911 quicker to 60 mph, with a time of 3.1 seconds for all models. The Targa 4S model comes with rear-axle steering as standard equipment. All 911 Carrera 4S models come standard with a sport exhaust, upgraded brakes, and "Torque Vectoring Plus" differential setup.

The increased power is due to an optimized intercooler configuration developed by Porsche for the 911 Turbo. The upgrades in the 911 Carrera 4S are similar to those in the RWD versions already on sale. All times for the acceleration sprint were measured with the standard dual-clutch PDK transmission.

The prices for the 2026 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S lineup are as follows:

| Model | Starting Price | |-----------------|----------------| | 911 Carrera 4S Coupe | $156,450 | | 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet | $169,650 | | 911 Targa 4S | $171,350 |

These prices represent a significant increase compared to the 2024 models, with the Coupe now over $16,000 more expensive than before. Despite the cost, Porsche customers continue to demand these models strongly.

The mechanical upgrades in the revised package have already been covered in detail elsewhere in the 992.2 range. The 2026 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S models will go on sale later this year.

The 2026 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S models are not only offering improved lifestyle with their enhanced performance, but also embracing technology in their mechanical upgrades, such as the Porsche Traction Management system and Torque Vectoring Plus differential setup. With the rise in horsepower for the sports-oriented 911 series, the new lineup, including the Coupe, Cabriolet, and Targa models, are expected to appeal not just to car enthusiasts, but also to technology lovers seeking a unique driving experience.
