Porsche Design introduces a new chronograph, paying tribute to one of its classic timepiece designs.
Porsche Design Re-issues Iconic 1975 Chronograph 1 in Limited Edition
The watch industry is abuzz with excitement as Porsche Design unveils the re-issued Porsche Design Chronograph 1, a return to a classic design and material that has captured the hearts of watch enthusiasts for decades.
First introduced in 1972, the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 marked a significant moment in the watch world. Now, after almost half a century, the brand has revisited the design, crafting a limited edition model that harks back to the original 1975 uncoated titanium version.
The re-issued model is a faithful recreation of the classic design, with a full uncoated titanium case and bracelet, and a matte-black dial inspired by the classic Porsche 911 dashboard. The watch is water-resistant up to 100m, making it suitable for daily use but not a dive watch.
The model is powered by the brand's Calibre WERK 01.240 movement, a COSC-certified chronometer produced solely for the brand's chronographs. The movement is housed within a closed caseback, a rarity compared to the brand's other pieces with a distinct rotor.
This is the first time an uncoated titanium watch has been made available to customers outside of those which are offered in league with a limited edition Porsche car. The limited edition uncoated titanium Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – 1975 Limited Edition became available for purchase starting July 23, 2025, and is sold exclusively through a new retail partnership between Porsche Design and the Watches of Switzerland Group.
Select retail locations include the Watches of Switzerland flagship stores in SoHo and Hudson Yards, New York, among other select luxury Watches of Switzerland boutiques. The edition is limited to 350 pieces, making it a rare and sought-after addition to any watch collection.
The retail price for the re-issued model is approximately €8,950 or $9,650 depending on location. This marks a significant investment for watch enthusiasts, but the limited edition nature of the piece, coupled with its faithful recreation of a classic design, makes it a worthy addition to any collection.
In summary, the re-issued Porsche Design Chronograph 1 offers a more classic appearance compared to other versions of the Chronograph 1, and marks the beginning of a new partnership between Porsche Design and the Watches of Switzerland group, acting as an exclusive third-party retailer for the brand in North America. The limited edition uncoated titanium Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – 1975 Limited Edition is available now, priced around €8,950 or $9,650 depending on location.
