Polish Authorities Arrest Ukrainian Suspect in Nord Stream Bombing

Polish authorities have arrested a Ukrainian man, Volodymyr S., suspected of involvement in the 2022 bombing of the Nord Stream gas pipelines. The arrest comes as an Italian court orders the extradition of another Ukrainian suspect, Serhii Kuznietsov, to Germany. Meanwhile, NordVPN has dismissed 548 employees worldwide for disciplinary reasons, mostly due to unexcused absences.

Volodymyr S. was arrested in Poland in October 2025, following a European arrest warrant issued by German authorities. He is accused of being one of the divers who planted explosive devices on the pipelines, causing significant damage. The suspect is part of a group of six Ukrainians and one woman allegedly involved in the sabotage.

Serhii Kuznietsov, another Ukrainian suspect, is set to be extradited to Germany. He is accused of using forged identity documents to charter a yacht for the attacks. The Italian court's decision follows the arrest of a Polish man in September 2022, also suspected of involvement in the Nord Stream bombing.

In other news, NordVPN has fired 548 employees worldwide in the first half of 2025 for disciplinary reasons. Most of these dismissals were due to unexcused absences. This comes as a survey by Germany's development bank KfW shows a decrease in willingness among private households to participate in climate-friendly transformations.

The arrests of Volodymyr S. and the impending extradition of Serhii Kuznietsov bring the investigation into the Nord Stream bombing a step closer to resolution. Meanwhile, NordVPN's dismissals serve as a reminder of the importance of employee accountability. Despite a decrease in public willingness for climate-friendly transformations, the German government continues to push for sustainable practices.
