Polestar Unveils Revolutionary Digital Rearview Mirror

Polestar has unveiled a revolutionary digital rearview mirror for its vehicles, marking a significant shift from traditional designs. The new feature, introduced by product manager Ola Aldensjo, combines the convenience of an HD display with the familiarity of a traditional mirror.

Polestar's digital mirror utilises a 2.5-megapixel camera with a 121-degree field of view. This camera transmits real-time images to the cabin's 8.9-inch HD display, providing drivers with a clear view of the road behind them. The mirror can toggle between this HD display and a traditional reflective surface, offering drivers the best of both worlds.

This innovation is part of Polestar's mission to bring meaningful change to car design, echoing the spirit of early 20th-century racers who pioneered the rearview mirror. The primary goal is to enhance both safety and comfort. The lack of a rear window in Polestar cars creates a more spacious and luxurious backseat experience, and the digital mirror further improves driver visibility, particularly in poor lighting or rainy conditions.

Polestar's digital rearview mirror, introduced by Ola Aldensjo, is a testament to the brand's commitment to technological innovation. By combining an HD display with a traditional mirror, Polestar aims to improve driver visibility and safety, while maintaining the comfort and luxury expected in its vehicles. This marks a significant step forward in car design, building on the century-old tradition of the rearview mirror.
