Pixxel & Dhruva Space Team Up for Advanced Solar Panels on Satellite Fleet
Pixxel, a leading space data company, has partnered with Dhruva Space to integrate advanced space solar panels into its upcoming satellite fleet. The collaboration aims to enhance the performance and capabilities of Pixxel's spacecraft, designed for daily global revisit and high spectral fidelity.
Pixxel's next generation of satellites will benefit from Dhruva Space's Solis+ space solar panels, engineered for high-performance power generation in orbit. These panels use high-efficiency triple-junction GaAs solar cells, ensuring optimal energy production even in the harsh conditions of space.
The partnership comes as Dhruva Space is expanding its footprint in South Asia. The company is setting up a new spacecraft manufacturing facility in Bangalore, dedicated to the design and development of space-grade solar arrays and assembly, integration, and testing zones. This facility will complement Dhruva Space's existing production line in Hyderabad, where the Solis+ space panels are precision-manufactured.
Pixxel, which has raised US$95 million from investors including M&G Catalyst and Google, is building a constellation of 18-24 satellites. These satellites will provide daily revisit frequency and high-resolution hyperspectral imagery, revolutionizing Earth observation and data services.
Kshitij Khandelwal, Founder and CTO of Pixxel, praised Dhruva Space's technical capabilities and commitment to mission readiness. Abhay Egoor, CTO & Co-founder of Dhruva Space, hailed the partnership as a sign of India's maturing NewSpace ecosystem and a boost to the country's space hardware infrastructure.
The partnership between Pixxel and Dhruva Space signals a significant step forward in India's space industry. By integrating advanced space solar panels into Pixxel's satellite fleet, the collaboration aims to enhance the capabilities and performance of the spacecraft. As both companies continue to grow and innovate, this partnership sets the stage for further advancements in India's NewSpace ecosystem.
